Case study: a gated community in Mérida with over 300,000 openings from the phone
How a community in north Mérida moved past remote controls: 26 residents, two entrances and more than 319,000 openings logged since 2022.
This is the community that uses Remotify the most, and the one that best shows what changes when the gate stops depending on remote controls. For privacy we do not name it; the figures are real and come from our system.
Where they started
Like many gated communities (privadas) in north Mérida, it had two entrances and a collection of remotes nobody could quite account for. Every move-out meant chasing remotes, and every lost one was an entrance that still worked outside the community.
What we did
- We installed a Remotify device at each entrance, connected to the existing motors, with no new gates or main wiring.
- The management registered residents in the web panel and gave each one the entrances they are entitled to.
- Residents started opening from the app; the remotes stayed as a backup.
Results
- More than 319,000 openings logged since 2022, each with user, entrance and time.
- Around 6,000 openings in the last 30 days: some 200 a day.
- 26 active users that the management adds and removes without collecting or reprogramming remotes.
The most valued change is not opening from the phone but knowing what happens at the entrance: when there is a question about an entry, the log answers it in seconds.
What we learned
In a busy community, reliability matters more than any other feature. That is why every device reports whether it is online and every opening command waits for the gate's confirmation. Figures as of October 2026.
